COMMITTEES AND WORKING GROUPSAs a member of Arizona Housing Alliance, you want to get the most out of your membership. One of the
best and most rewarding ways to maximize your membership is by joining a volunteer committee or
working group. The Alliance has two committees and three working groups that recommend policies to
the Board of Directors and ensure a diversity of opinions. They help shape the Alliance’s advocacy agenda, membership services, and educational offerings and help strengthen the Alliance’s membership. Advocacy Committee The Advocacy Committee develops an annual advocacy agenda that identifies policy positions
and advocacy strategies for the Alliance. The committee reviews and recommends positions
on state bills. The committee also plans the annual Legislative Day, an opportunity to meet
with legislators about housing needs in Arizona.

Membership Services Committee The Membership Services Committee strengthens membership by evaluating and improving
our member benefits portfolio. The committee reviews and recommends trainings through
our Academy, identifies member meeting locations and speakers, and proposes other
member benefits.

Housing Counselors Working Group The Housing Counseling Working Group improves the quality, scope, and availability of
housing counseling throughout the state. The group identifies housing counseling training
needs, develops advocacy strategies and keeps on top of important changes in the
housing counseling industry.

Low Income Housing Tax Credit Working Group The Low Income Housing Tax Credit Working Group supports national efforts to strengthen
and improve the LIHTC program. The group develops recommendations for annual changes
to the state’s Qualified Allocation Plan.

Rural Working Group The Rural Working Group supports efforts to improve housing in rural Arizona. The group
develops recommendations for the state’s Consolidated Plans and Annual Action Plans.
The group also follows activities affecting USDA’s Rural Housing programs.
